Philanthropy Delivers State-of-the-Art 3D Tomosynthesis Imaging
As part of the Providence Little Company of Mary’s Women & Children’s campaign, the Medical Canters now have an exceptional tool in the diagnosis of breast cancer. Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, we now offer 3D tomosynthesis imaging.
Tomosynthesis uses the same technology (X-Ray) as conventional mammography, but provides a much more detailed, three-dimensional picture of the human body. This technology detects 41% more in invasive cancers than conventional scans and can reduce false positives by up to 40%.
The tool also delivers more accurate breast cancer screening results and offers a significant increase in Positive Predictive Value for recalls (49%) and biopsy (21%) compared with 2D mammography. Tomosynthesis reduces patient exam times compared with other X-ray biopsy procedures
